Citizenship Application

- be a permanent resident
- have lived in Canada for 3 out of the last 5 years

PR Card Renewal
If you are a Permanent resident, you must have a valid permanent resident card (PR card) or permanent resident travel document (PRTD) to return to Canada by plane, train, bus or boat from abroad or you may not be allowed to board. When you show your PR card to the authorities, it should be valid. If your card expires, you can apply for a new one.
